NAPKON

The National Pandemic Cohort Network (NAPKON) was founded in 2020 within the framework of Netzwerk Universitätsmedizin (NUM), which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). It was founded to pool national research activities within a standardised framework.

For the first time in Germany, NAPKON provides an infrastructure that enables successful co-operation between all university hospitals, other clinics and registered physicians. This is based on common data protection guidelines, uniform control of coordinated study protocols and standardised work instructions for data collection and biospecimen collection from different groups of people, known as cohorts.

Recruitment of COVID-19 patients has already been completed. The data is available to science.

All of NAPKON's research activities on the topic of post-COVID are summarised on the project's own post-COVID page. More news about NAPKON and NUM can be found in the NAPKON blog

NAPKON was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) within the framework of Netzwerk Universitätsmedizin 2.0: ‘NUM 2.0’, no. 01KX2121.
